Murder in Mystic Pond

by Karen S. Bee

Cami Petersen grew up in a less than desirable neighborhood in Detroit. She started dancing in a strip club when she was just 16 so that she could pay her way through culinary school and to move her little sister, mother and herself into a better life style.

She went on to become a very successful caterer in Mystic Pond – in fact she made her first million dollars by the time she was thirty years old, and married a rock star type D.J. She was found murdered last year the day before Thanksgiving.

The book is written through the eyes of the detective, Mary Bartlett who was not only her friend, but also the one who found her. The murder is solved using the usual fingerprints,DNA and such, but also from reading a few volumes of Cami’s thirty years of diaries – and well, evidence.

Oh, and we can’t forget the little “thing” that is starting to brew between the detective and the F.B.I. guy? Well, let’s just say, “stay tuned.”

It is written short and to the point making it an easy three to four hour read.

“I’ve always said that I wanted to write a book,” says S. Bee. “I guess the combination of watching a CSI type show on T.V. while drinking a few beers and smoking cigarettes just struck me the right way one night last November.”

“While I love the “CSI Miami” team, I really took more inspiration from the teams from the T.V. shows “Bones” and “Castle”. I did want the middle aged female Detective and The F.B.I. guy of the same age to start hooking up. While the story ends in mid-December, these two just might be spending New Years Eve together. The biggest thing though is that I wanted you to really like Cami.”

Karen grew up in a suburb similar to Mystic Pond. She has had a few careers including making pizza, retailing and event planning. She is married to her best friend and loves her animals. While she likes shows like “Bones”, “Castle,” and “Law and Order,” she really prefers the decorating and cooking shows along with the news and money shows.

She loves cooking, golfing, laughing and being with people. In fact, most of the people who know her would classify her as funny.

She says “if I ever write a book again, it would have to be humorous or an opinion type thing on current events or issues. Maybe I could combine the two.”
