A graphic introduction to birds at risk on Haida Gwaii. It is written and illustrated by residents of Haida Gwaii and, although written for children, highlights our shared responsibility to care for all living things.

Dejah-Lee Busch was born and raised on Haida Gwaii. She always illustrated her world and, as a child, entertained herself for hours with pencil, paper and a little imagination. Dejah-Lee completed the visual arts program at Camosun College and returned to Haida Gwaii after some years in Victoria BC. She continues to work from her home in Masset.

Irish-born Margo Hearne settled in Masset in 1974 and began serious birding in 1983. Her articles have appeared in Guardian Weekly, American Birds and BC Nature. She writes a regular weekly column for the Haida Gwaii Observer.
She is the author of "Small Birds Cling to Bare Branches: Nesting Songbirds of Haida Gwaii" the first publication to focus on island songbirds. She and her husband Peter Hamel work out of their home in Masset.
