This book tells the story of what happens after a terrible car accident claims the life of one person, causes traumatic brain injury (TBI) to another, seriously damages the driver, and causes all manner of devastation to an entire network of family and friends. It presents the inside story of a family thrown into the midst of unimaginable pain and suffering, and charts a journey from being lost in despair to hope.

There are two parallel stories: the first deals with “the system” – medical, social, and government. Just when you think there couldn’t possibly be another mix-up, there are three more surprises in a row. The other story, of course, is the core of the book and is a love story: how one partner lives out the promise they made in a wedding ceremony almost thirty years earlier, something to do with “in sickness and in health.”

The determination to “fix” what can be fixed, to never take “no” as the final answer, gives this book its powerful emotional edge.

Jo-Anne Vienneau

Jo-Anne Vienneau was born in Montreal but spent her formative years on the South Shore of the St-Lawrence River. She married the love of her life when she was 18; and when her children were able to take care of themselves, she spent the next 15 years working as a Sales and Customer Service Manager. She is most proud of her two boys, now grown men, and two beautiful granddaughters. She is now on a new journey as an author, on the beautiful South Shore and still with the love of her life.
