Freedom from the Bondage of Addiction

A Story of Hope by Lisa S.

Lisa's journey of addiction took her to jails, institutions, mental hospitals, psychiatrists, counselors, rehabs, and wanted the ultimate defeat of death. Despite a series of catastrophic events, she continued to give in to the enemy of addiction over and over again.

As long as she could remember, she had felt alienated and disconnected from everyone and everything else around her. The disease of addiction told her that when she felt lonely, or tired, or stressed out, it would always be there for her to take away all the pain. She spent her whole life looking to fill a void that she did not understand, using alcohol to fill it. It took the loss of decades of her life and one incredible counselor to discover what that void was and to begin the amazing journey to sobriety.

Lisa S.

Lisa is a mother of two teenage boys. She works as an environmental scientist in Central Texas. She is an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and volunteers in local detox centers to help those who suffer from the disease of addiction.

Her purpose in life is to give hope to those who have lost all hope of ever recovering from the devastating consequences of addiction. Her sobriety is a day by day blessing and one that she accepts as a gift from God that is never to be taken for granted.
