Soldier of the Sixties

Part 2 by Robin Leigh

Soldier of the Sixties is an account of a very ordinary soldier serving in extraordinary circumstances — a historical record of what it was like to serve in the British Army fifty years ago. This book will be of great interest to anyone who is serving or has served in the military of any country, especially those soldiers who have a little of the Lawrence of Arabia spirit. SCUBA divers and snorkel divers will also relate to the adventures portrayed in this story, and hopefully learn something from them — including some things not to do!

Robin Leigh

Robin Leigh was born in Hampshire, England, in 1940. During his service with the British Army, he served in Germany, Gibraltar, Libya, Aden, Yemen, Bahrain, Trucial Oman (now the United Arab Emirates), and British Guiana (now Guyana). He has also been a deep sea diver, commercial fisherman, pilot, flight instructor, and taxi owner/driver. Father to two grown sons and grandfather to three children, Robin is now seventy two years old. He lives with his beloved wife Sandra on Vancouver Island. They both work as part-time taxi drivers when they are not cruising England’s canals in a narrowboat or traveling North America in their motor home.
