Life's Ultimate Questions
Exploring the Stories that Shape Our Everyday by Jake Wiens

This book is presented as “core-curriculum” for young adults and new believers alike, who wish to not only survive but thrive as Christians in our challenging, secular, atheistic culture. This five-fold foundation can help us stand as well as advance against today’s increasingly strong cultural headwinds.

A ̶ Empowering spirituality in keeping with Christianity’s rich 2000 year history.

B ̶ Exposé of today’s atheistic, materialistic culture.

C ̶ Basic religious literacy (including atheism as a belief system).

D ̶ A lay person’s strategies for validating foundational assumptions.

E ̶ A dynamic encounter with the Bible’s Mother-Story.

This book is unique. It begins with a willingness to examine all faith assumptions, including its own. It avoids the pedestal of preachy superiority. This approach provides a welcoming entrance point for any young person searching for truth.

—Natawna Foreman (Cedars Christian School, Prince George, BC, grad 2014)

It is an excellent read for believers struggling with Christianity’s relevance and the validity of God’s story in today’s culture.

—Derek Joyce (CCS grad 2007). Musician, Campus Minister, University of Northern British Columbia.

This book does an excellent job of debunking the cultural myth that secular humanism is the only unbiased worldview, the only non-religion. The result is a grand appeal to carefully choose the story to which we submit.

—Dan Hoffman (CCS grad 1998). Pastor, Fort George Baptist Church, Prince George, B.C.

I found myself confronted with having to inspect my own assumptions regarding secular humanism. I came to understand it to be a religion that is vibrant, widespread and growing in our culture. This book will help people speak clearly, yet simply, with others about this so-called non-religious, benign, belief choice.

—Debbie Van Calsteren (colleague, CCS)
