Standard Copy Editing

The toughest errors to spot are our own. That’s why having an expert editor is so important. Copy editing focuses on (but is not limited to) correction of errors in grammar, usage, spelling, punctuation and other mechanics of style, internal consistency, cross-referencing, labeling, syntax, abbreviation errors and verification of citations for manuscripts. A copy edit ensures your text is -- on a line-by-line basis -- clear, consistent, and correct.

To calculate the cost of this service, count the number of words in your manuscript using your word processor's word count feature; divide this number by 100, and multiply the result by $2.25. For example, if you have a manuscript that is 20,000 words, divide it by 100; the result is 200. 200 x $2.25 = $450.

Complex Copy Editing

Complex copy editing is best suited to manuscripts that require extensive syntax changes in order to improve readability. This level of editing is recommended for authors for whom English is a second language, and also for manuscripts that have been translated into English

Complex copy editing includes correction of errors in grammar, usage, spelling, punctuation and other mechanics of style; it also addresses internal consistency, cross-referencing, labelling, syntax, and abbreviations.
