I think that one of the reasons that self-publishing is finally earning respect, is because people have come to understand that while writing may be a solitary pursuit, publishing a book is not. It’s very much a collaborative effort…and it should be. It was a number of years before I read a single self-published book that was worth the paper it was written on.
